African Traditional Religions have unduly gotten a bad rep, and are often thought of as evil and anti- God. That is the furthest thing from the truth.
Being a priest in multiple ATRs has required me to live a life of good character., discipline and order. We don’t have the option to merely pray for forgiveness of our sins and move on, the deities will personally say NO, your prayers are not going to be answered because of your bad character, or because of worry, etc.
We operate under the code of Iwa Pele and Iwa Rere in Ifa. We also within each path, have many rules and protocols and standards of operations and codes that should be followed.
Every barrel has its rotten apples but that is the anomoly, not the standard. Ifa, Palo Myombe and Vodou are all monotheistc religions, believing in one true God although called by many names.
There is but one. In IFA it is Olodumare, Palo Mayombe it is Nsambi and in Vodou it is Bondye.
